年度出版物奖
Purpose: The Publication of the Year Award acknowledges and celebrates the author(s) of a single published scholarly article, book chapter, book, or book series that has had a significant impact on the study and/or practice of service-learning and community engagement, including the communities, cultures, and systems within which it is undertaken.
Eligibility: Any scholar (or team of scholars) that has published a scholarly article, journal special issue, book chapter, book, or book series between March 2025 and February 2026. “Scholar” as used here encompasses those who self-define as “researchers,” “scholars,” or “practitioner-scholars,” and does not imply any particular academic status.
Evaluation Criteria
Significance. A highly significant piece of scholarship that is (a) central to the research on and practice of service-learning and community engagement, (b) very well regarded in the SLCE field, and (c) subscribes to the principles of high-quality research, scholarship, and/or SLCE practice.
Impact. Scholarship that has had a significant impact on - or has the potential to impact - community stakeholders and/or SLCE scholarship as indicated by (a) influencing other research and scholarship, (b) adoption and/or adaptation of this work by scholars or practitioners, and (c) building others’ capacity for high-quality research, scholarship, and/or practice.
Generativity: Scholarship that deepens understanding of SLCE in specific places, spaces, and settings in ways that expand involvement, improve or inspire practice, generate opportunities for further inquiry, advance collaboration or co-creation in scholarly production, and/or generate new knowledge.
The work should demonstrate an awareness of the social and political contexts of engagement and strive for inclusivity in its theoretical or practical applications.
