Seeking Graduate Students for Assistant Section Editors

IJRSLCE seeks graduate student scholars to serve as Assistant Section Editors alongside current Section Editors. This role is designed to accomplish two interrelated goals: (1) strengthen IJRSLCE's editorial capacity and responsiveness, and (2) intentionally develop the next generation of scholars, reviewers, and editorial leaders in the service-learning and community engagement (SLCE) field.

Assistant Section Editors will be paired with a Section Editor in one of IJRSLCE's content areas and will participate meaningfully in the editorial process — from initial manuscript screening through final editorial decision-making. This is a mentored leadership role that provides graduate students with substantive behind-the-scenes experience in scholarly publishing while contributing to the intellectual growth of the field. For more information, read the full Call for Assistant Editors.

How to Apply

Interested graduate students should submit the following:

  1. Application form questions

  2. Brief statement of interest (no more than 500 words) describing your scholarly interests, relevant experience, and what you hope to gain from and contribute to this role

  3. Current CV or résumé

  4. Indication of section preference(s) — Please select your top two IJRSLCE sections of interest:

    • Advances in Theory and Methodology

    • Community Partnerships and Impacts

    • Faculty Roles and Institutional Issues

    • Student Outcomes (Primary, Secondary, and Higher Education)

    • International Service-Learning and Community Engagement Research

  5. Name and contact information for one reference (faculty advisor, mentor, or supervisor who can speak to your scholarly readiness)

Application deadline: Friday, March 27

Applicants will be notified of decisions within two weeks. We especially encourage applications from graduate students at community colleges, minority-serving institutions, and international institutions, as well as students from historically underrepresented backgrounds in the SLCE field.
